At Coláiste Íde we encourage healthy, active living but understand all girls are different, hence our extensive, varying list of activities, some more challenging than others. Promoting team play is a hugely important part of life at Coláiste Íde, providing hours of exhilarating fun for all of the girls.
Sailing
Situated on the Atlantic Ocean, Coláiste Íde offers students a wonderful location to avail of water-sports. Sailing Programs,run by Irish Sailing Association approved instructors, are designed to suit all requirements from the beginner right up to the advanced sailor.
Basketball
Basketball is a very popular sporting pursuit in the school with coaching and in-house competition being conducted in our large, purpose built sports hall. The school teams participate in various inter-school competitions. Regular coaching and opportunities for practice are provided.
Gaelic Football
Training for Gaelic football is provided once a week
Rugby
This is one of the most popular sports in the college in the last few years and is professionally run by The Irish Rugby Union,affording the girls regular competition both on and off campus.
Swimming
Just a short journey by mini bus from the college our pupils can avail of swimming lessons in the beautiful swimming pool in the Dingle Skellig Hotel. The usual program extends to twelve lessons.
Horse Riding
At Coláiste Íde the riding programme is designed for everyone - beginner, intermediate and advanced. The west-Kerry location allows for lessons and treks on beaches and hills with the possibility to attend competition and hunts. Our riding instructors are fully-qualified members of AIRE – The Irish Association of Irish Riding Establishments, and girls can follow the syllabus and take examinations in horse-riding and stable management.
