Coláiste Íde

Music education is an integral part of Coláiste Íde and the enthusiasm for music is remarkable in both classical and traditional disciplines. Coláiste Íde students have been honoured serially by The Royal Irish Academy’s High Achiever Award system and the traditional music teachers are all very well-known musicians. Coláiste Íde is fortunate to have such teachers on our doorstep and the girls benefit hugely from their teaching.

Students can sit the Department of Education Music and Musicianship examinations for Junior and Leaving Certificate. The Royal Irish Academy examinations in Music, Voice Training and Speech & Drama are held in the school at present .

Music Practice

All students studying classical music for examination are allocated music practice sessions during study each day. Students studying traditional music are allocated practice times at break times and during free times at the weekend.
