Coláiste Íde is a small all-Irish girls’ boarding school where we make every girl feel important, we value good manners and we care about every girl’s success. The school was originally established in 1927, and was run by the Sisters of Mercy until 1996. Coláiste Íde is now run by Cairde Choláiste Íde Teoranta, a charitable trust.
We have traditional values, place great importance on courtesy, and good behaviour is the norm, but we take a fresh approach to education. Our full capacity is 130 girls - which, for parents, must be a significant plus. The education at Coláiste Íde is through Irish and this has many advantages; supporters of bilingual tuition say it gives students strong cognitive advantages, greater problem-solving ability and higher literacy levels.
Idyllic is too small a word for the natural beauty of the location. The school is housed in an elegant Georgian home on the shores of Dingle Bay. Every time you look out a window at Coláiste Íde you are greeted by stunning views of sea, sky and mountains. With a total of 107 acres of land, 54 acres of which is woodland, on the edge of the Atlantic ocean it is without a doubt a healthy, safe and spiritually uplifting environment for young girls to be educated.
